The Choir

St. Mary's Ecumenical Choir St. Mary's Ecumenical Choir, based in Shropshire, is a mixed choir of around 25 voices with members from all over the UK. The choir has sung services and performed concerts in many Cathedrals and Churches in the UK as well as further afield such as Belgium and Germany.  The choir was founded in 1968 by Hugh Smith as Director and Christopher Blake as Organist, The choir name, St. Mary's Ecumenical, was decided upon as the original membership was drawn from St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shifnal, Shropshire, and St. Mary Magdalene CofE church in Albrighton. After 38 years service and commitment, both Hugh Smith and Christopher Blake retired from the choir in 2004.  Peter Smith. has taken over his father's position as Director with Sean Montgomery and Martin Charlton as Organists.

The choir sings both a cappella and accompanied music from an extensive sacred and secular repertoire.

Rehearsals: The choir rehearses at various churches in Shropshire prior to any performance or cathedral visit.
